Rose Hill side viewHistoric American Homes is thrilled to be working closely on the production of a television program.  Recently we were on site at Rose Hill excavating a suspected 18th century ice house and touring the beautiful home.  Located in Caroline County, VA and very close to the thriving period port of Port Royal, this property is full of history.  Like many of our older colonial and federal period homes, this house was built in phases.  The center (oldest) part of the house was eventually added on with wings, an extended center hall and front porch, and an octagon shaped music room directly off the back of the house  The house burned in the mid 20th century and has been restored with a tremendous amount of care and attention to detail.  Even the gardens were examined through exploratory archaeology and accurately reconstructed.  This property is a private property so we feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to visit and tour the home.
